Gratitude

Happy Monday everyone!

My dear friend Nicole is hosting a link up today about gratitude. The purpose of it is to remind ourselves of the things we're thankful for, even after Thanksgiving. Turns out this weekend was one of my favorite weekends of 2012 so it lines up perfectly with gratitude!

Yesterday for Rob's mom's birthday, we took her to Stinson Beach. Despite a lengthy car trip, the weather was impeccable and it was the most relaxing day trip I've taken in a long while, I'm so happy we went. I'll share some of the photos I snapped yesterday and interject some of the things I'm most grateful for.

I'm thankful for the warmth of the sun and amazing weather we have in California.

I'm also thankful for eyesight to see and hearing to listen to the relaxing lull of waves rolling onto beach.

I'm thankful for my family, that everyday in the mirror I see the best parts of them reflected in me because we are exactly that, parts of each other. Especially my parents, they are the best role models I could ever imagine.

I'm also thankful for the days when my hair behaves. And the joy I feel when I find a piece of clothing that feels like "me" (a.k.a. this infinity scarf from H&M!).

I'm thankful for the ability to be introspective, to see my flaws and faults and attempt to grow from that knowledge.

I'm also thankful that I have the confidence to pick myself up on harder days and tell myself that I am good enough.
(And for the GREAT friends and family that help me on those days too.)

I'm thankful for the warm feeling that spreads through my body when I'm barefoot, because it makes me feel grounded and connected to my surroundings.

I'm also thankful for the ability to rinse off and wear nice shoes, because I know not everyone has that opportunity.

I'm thankful EVERYDAY for the love Rob and I share and the certainty with which we know we're going to spend our lives together.

I'm also thankful for his family, not only because someday they will be my family too but because they raised such a wonderful man.

I'm thankful for my education, for the good job it provided me with, and the financial capacity to enjoy everything I could possibly want.

I'm also thankful for the struggles I feel in discovering who I am, where I'm going and what my purpose will be. I know those struggles exist because the possibilities are vast and I have free reign to decide my own fate.

I'm thankful for great friends (both in person and virtually) who give me support and something to look forward to everyday (this blog!).

I'm also thankful for the materials things that help make this blog what it is (my laptop, my phone and everything else).

I'm thankful for beautiful sunsets that remind me that God's work is everywhere.

And lastly, I'm thankful that I get to wake up each morning, feeling eternally blessed that I was given such an incredible support system of family and friends I could not live without.

Isn't Stinson Beach beautiful? If you get a chance, I highly recommend doing this link up! Just getting the chance to say everything I'm thankful for is a blessing and I feel all warm inside now. 🙂

What is something unique to you that you're thankful for?

I hope you have a wonderful start to your week!

  1. This is a beautiful idea! Everything you've written down has made me think about what I have to be grateful for as well. It's easy to be cynical or to take for granted so many things - which is why it's so important to take a step back and really reflect upon everything we have to be thankful for. The beach looks beautiful - getting closer to nature is a great way of getting some perspective and clearing the mind to be in a more peaceful state 🙂

Also loved that you guys were at Stinson Beach this weekend. Kurt and I spent our first date at Stinson and it holds a special place in my heart.

  5. What a great post! Jealous you live so close to a beach. One of my favorite things in the whole world is going to the beach early early in the morning. No one's there, it's so quiet and foggy. Just wonderful 🙂
