Howl-o-ween and Many Thanks

I get byPicture source unknown :/

First off, thank you so much for your kind words and thoughts. I was humbled by how many people reached out to me and I found a lot of comfort in hearing from all of you. We're still waiting to hear more about the news we received and I can only hope for the best. Seeing my family yesterday was the perfect way to help me process my feelings, I'm so lucky to be able to drive a mere 15 minutes away to hug them tight.

Also, this news combined with wedding stress has lead to me conclude that I am in fact an emotional eater. The sheer amount of starch I have consumed in the last week is astronomical, and there have been a few meals where I just look at the empty plate in front of me and think "No one must ever know about this". Lol. I need to get back into healthy eating and exercise regularly, STAT.  Do you eat when you're emotional?

In an effort to lift my spirits, Rob and I decided to watch Nightmare Before Christmas and carve our almost-late pumpkins. We didn't get started until 10, so you can imagine how sleep deprived we are this morning. Anyhoots, here are our final products.

PumpkinsSo originally mine was supposed to be a "Disney-like" castle but the cute little flags on top were not going to make the cut and now I realized it looks more "haunted". Oh well, it was so much fun anyways. Rob's Bronco looks so good though right?!? And I absolutely love Nightmare Before Christmas. I watched it for the first time last year and now it's absolutely a must every holiday season.

Lastly, my dear bloggy friend Allie (whose blog I miss reading so much, come back to us!) hosts her annual Howl-o-ween and luckily this year I snapped a pic of our pup in his costume early!

TycoExcuse the excellent photography skills (ha) but I think Tyco pretty much loves it, no?

Tonight, we might roam around midtown looking for a fun bar to do something lowkey for Halloween. We actually have a Halloween party on Saturday and that's when we're doing our real costumes so pics of that are coming soon.

What do you have planned for tonight? Also, what's your favorite candy/chocolate?!? Mine is always and forever Reeses... mmmm

  1. Nice pumpkins, and what a cute penguin costume! I have the day off (yay!) so I am going to the girls' school party and tonight we will be trick or treating. Hoping to do some pumpkin seed roasting today too. 🙂 Happy Halloween!

Hope trick or treating went well with the girls! I'm getting to that age where although I don't necessarily feel ready for kids, I want to take some kiddos trick or treating instead of the traditional "young" going out shenanigans. I feel like Halloween was so much fun as a child. 🙂

      1. The girls had so much fun trick or treating! One of them lost her fairy wand along the way which caused some tears, but overall it was a great night. So sweet to see all the kids having fun!

  2. Tyco makes such a cute penguin, thanks for linking up! The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite movies, I have it on nonstop around Halloween! I'm all about the Reeses too...remind me again why we live on opposite coasts?? Happy Halloween! (PS-I'm an emotional eater like whoa, so I feel you girl)

YAY so happy I found another Nightmare Before Christmas fan. Honestly, it scared me as a kid so I never watched it but it's seriously the sweetest movie ever, for the main character being a skeleton and all. I wish we were neighbors, so I could hang out with Casey (and you of course) and we could eat Reese and watch movies together!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love kit kats too, for some reason, I really love the fact it feels like you get 2 servings! Haha

  3. Such cute pumpkins, you guys did a great job! Tonight we are handing out candy to the neighborhood kiddies. We get SO MANY kids. My fave are... snickers, milky way, and kit kats. YUM. Oh and twix. I have a lot of favorites apparently.

Wah I kinda wish we got kids but we live in an apartment complex with locked doors so we don't. Haha I love how all your favorites are the basic chocolate minus the Reeses. But it's cool, we can still be friends 😉

Hi there Jane! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I mean I hate to admit it but I am quite the perfectionist so carving pumpkins is like a serious affair for me. Haha. I go through waves of being really excited but being so anal about the tiniest things about them. Anyways, hope to see you around again soon!

  5. FINALLY catching up with some blog reading and i felt pretty sad reading the last one. I connected instantly! I wear my heart on my sleeve and I'll talk about whatever.... but when something really serious goes down I just want to listen to others, make something better, or sit by myself. Maybe a hug once in a while from a loved one is nice- but there is no talking allowed. I'm happy that I was able to read straight through to today's post where you did just that. I hope things are in a good place soon

I'm so glad you connected with my post too Jenn. I really appreciate your kind words and happy to know other bloggers feel the same way. It's funny how extroverted we can be online but how introverted we can be in real life with certain things. I really treasure having you as a bloggy friend!

  6. I agree, Reeses are the bomb diggity! Esp. after you leave them in the fridge for a while 🙂 Hope you and Rob have a great time this weekend and I can't wait to see your costumes! You deserve a little fun after this past week.
