I went to my first blogging networking event with the Sacramento Bloggers last night at LowBrau in Midtown. I have to admit, I was nervous. I've met plenty of my blogger friends in person (Nicole, Rima, Emily, Yen) but this was my first time at an event with bloggers I wasn't familiar with already. LowBrau was a great location for mingling over tasty bites with some local friends!
LowBrau hosted the event for Sacramento Bloggers and provided us with a discounted drink menu, specialized blogger cocktail and some delicious appetizers. The owners Clay and Michael are both from Midtown Sacramento and are new to restaurant business, although you might never guess that from the packed tables and patio at the only 3 month-old LowBrau. Their concept involves a modern German beer hall serving unpretentious beer and sausage in a warm open concept environment. I love the thought they put behind the name "LowBrau", "brau" meaning brew in German and "low" countering the idea of being high brow. Their sausage menu invites all, they have the traditional polish, specialty wild boar sausage or vegan options made out of potato or eggplant and many more type of sausage. Whether you sit at the long community tables or pull up a barstool at the bar, LowBrau is a fun place to gather with family and friends to relax, drink and enjoy a darn good sausage.
Ashley, Katie and I!
Last night I met some amazing Sacramento area bloggers and was especially excited to meet Ashley of Domestic Fashionista! We've been virtual friends for quite awhile and it was great connecting face to face and learning more about her. I know we'll get together again sometime soon. 🙂 I also met the lovely Katie of Katie Did What and her husband Zach of Look Before Spending, they are such a sweet blogging couple! I also met Jenn at Twentysomething Single Girl, Tiffany with Living Savvy, Alexis at et Beaute, Tami from b-3801, and Jill with Life of Jill (and probably many more bloggers!). A big thank you to Margaret of Nanny Goats in Panties and Nichole of In These Small Moments for coordinating the event for all of us!
And again, thank you LowBrau for hosting us! I'll be sure to come back for more good beer and great times.
I have to tell you guys, for as confident as I thought I was, I was SO shy last night. I was surprised by how intimidated I was by meeting other bloggers! I think I'm also in somewhat of a transitional place for what I want Simply Evani to be so when presented with the "what do you blog about?" question, I realized I didn't really have a clear niche yet. It will come in due time.
Have you ever gone to a blogger networking event or conference? Are you more shy or outgoing in new groups?
