(So, I don't know if ya'll were just being polite but the general consensus was that my readers wanted to hear about the wedding planning process, so here I am with a new blog segment called To Have and To Hold! Now that I think about it, you probably wouldn't have told me if you didn't want to hear about it, but I digress.)

When Rob proposed back in December, I said I wouldn't start wedding planning until March to enjoy our engagement. Clearly, my neuroticism has proven me wrong (Neuroticism - 1, Evani - 0) because the first event I decided to swing for was the Bridal Showcase of California, a huge event for all of Northern California, this past weekend. And aside from having an awesome time, here's some thoughts I had for the newly engaged/first timers to bridal shows:

I realize this might not apply to every wedding expo or every couple but these are just thoughts I had after my first crazy bridal show. Every vendor offered tons of discounts and I walked away with more fliers and cake samples than I could've dreamed of. If you've been to a bridal expo and have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to share your experiences too!

While I plan to share lots of the wedding planning process, I also hope to keep some of it under wraps for the guests of our special day. So far, Rob and I have fallen in love with a potential church, an outdoor venue, obviously an open bar and after the bridal expo, I realized I couldn't live without a photo booth. Check out these fun (free) photo booth pictures my Mom, my sister and I snapped.

We clearly had way too much fun.

Linking up with Shanna and Joelle today!

As a guest of weddings, how do you feel about photo booth pictures being a wedding favor? Is it enough of a "gift"? (Please feel free to be honest!)

I'm planning to run a wedding planning post once every 2 weeks so I don't spend the next 52+ weeks going on incessantly about my planning, driving you all crazy. Get excited! :)

Have a great hump day everyone!

Happy Monday everyone!

I tried my hardest to come up with the words to describe how the proposal happened and I found that I was mostly unsuccessful. So instead I made a video to speak for me. I'm so excited for you to see it! (It has audio, just fyi :) )

Click here for the video: http://vimeo.com/56882952

And here's the best I could come up with in words:
Standing in front of Sleeping Beauty castle on December 22, 2012 Rob asked me to marry him.  As he dropped to his knee, my eyes began to flood and my hands flew to my face in shock. As I started to seriously ugly cry, I was too emotional to speak  so I nodded yes and leaned in to kiss him. Rob put the most beautiful ring I've ever seen on my finger (I put out the wrong hand of course ;) ) . While I struggled to get my emotions in check so the Disney photographer could photograph us, my entire family, his parents and my best friend come charging towards us from the crowd, popping out from hiding locations. I started to hysterically cry all over again seeing tears rolling down my my families' faces and we're engulfed in a giant hug by the people we love most. I've never felt so much joy in my entire life, like my heart was going to explode from happiness. Just talking about it makes me want to cry again. :)

After the 30 seconds I had to process the actual proposal, our families explained Rob's master plan piece by piece:

  • How Rob asked for my Dad's permission back in September.
  • How Rob just knew which ring to get (before looking at my Pinterest!!) and has had it for months. <3
  • How our families were sequestered in their hotel rooms the night before because Rob booked rooms in the SAME hotel for everyone 3 months in advance. They also had to time breakfast so we didn't run into them!
  • How my aunts and uncle drove and flew down to Anaheim, just to attend.
  • How my best friend Auva and Rob's parents rode in the same car with my crazy family for 7+ hours from Sacramento to Anaheim (definitely the MOST time they've all ever spent together).
  • How I looked straight at Rob's Dad seconds before the proposal (who was wearing a wig and disguise) and even commented on how "that stranger"should take our picture because he was just "standing around filming nothing" (my exact words!).
  • How Rob drew and e-mailed detailed maps for everyone on where to park, where to hide, etc. and planned the whole amazing trip!

After I said yes, it turned into this epic family vacation with both sides of our family. We rode a ton of rides and spent 13 hours at the park, from the time the proposal happened to park closing. We had a mini engagement party at the Cove Bar in California Adventure and basically it was the best day ever, I'll never ever forget it.

I have to admit, I may have underestimated Rob a bit. He did an amazing job planning an engagement and family vacation all in one! And although I never presumed Rob would propose at Disneyland, I'm really glad he did because we will ALWAYS have an iconic spot to return to, that's close to our heart. I told him we'll come back on all our important anniversaries, take our photo at the castle and be able to do a fun photo time lapse for the rest of our lives.

So PLEASE feel free to send me any and all wedding advice you have! I feel like 2 weeks after it happened, I'm finally back on earth and able to comprehend the extent of savings we'll be required to have for a wedding. But man, does this ring make me swoon...

I'd love to read up on anyone who has a love/engagement story, what can I say, I'm a sap. Please feel free to share them in the comments! :)

Also a shout out to our good friends Teagan and Justin, who just got engaged on Saturday! We're so happy we were able to celebrate such a wonderful day with you  guys.

Thank you to our families for their unending support (and all the espionage you had to undergo) and of course all of you, our friends, who make our story worth telling. We love you!

I love you so much, Rob! Thank you for creating my perfect day and I can't wait to start our next chapter together!

Is it really already Thursday?!?

Good grief, I am behind on updating my blog. And although I may have stated my imminent return (on Twitter) to blogging today, alas I am here to say, I'm working on it! Specifically, I'm working on my engagement post, which is taking me a lot longer than it should. I'm annoyingly a perfectionist, even with simple things like text messages and e-mails so you can imagine how long it's taking me to even put into words what that crazy day was like. So don't leave forever, I am coming back!!

And because I have to post at least one picture, here's a sneak peek:

That's about when the ugly cry commenced. 100% unscripted and surprised Evani because I would have definitely tried to make a much cuter face.

I'll be back, I promise!

Are you back to work/school? How were your holidays?

Have a great day everyone!

P.S. Please don't feel obligated to say congratulations every time I mention the engagement. I figure some of you lovely people are getting engagement overkill from me right now so just wanted to throw that out there. :) I adore you all!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

So I've been trying for MONTHS to write mine and Rob's love story (a staple of every blogger in a committed relationship) and I had all these plans to have it written by our 7 year anniversary, which was yesterday. But every time I put my fingers to the keyboard, I never felt like I was doing justice to what he and I share. Most of that is my A-type personality and my unreasonable need to get everything 100% right but that's just how my cookie crumbles. So instead, I decided to share a few of our photos and my thoughts towards Rob, I hope this does our 7 years justice (but I doubt it).

10 million Things I Love About You:

I love the way you make me laugh and make my worries light,

I love it when I'm in your arms and the universe just feels right.

I love it when you give me sass but let me talk things through,

I love that you make me feel so beautiful, with all the right words too.

I love it when you call me every night and snore with me on the phone,

I love that everyday you're dreaming of buying our dream home.

I love that you have such big dreams but an even bigger heart,

I love that you don't get mad at me, when I warn you of a fart.

I love that you love my crazy family, even when they're always around,

I love that you have a magical way of being my lost and found.

I love that there's nothing I can't do in your eyes, that you'll never let me fall,

I love that there's not one thing I hate about you, not one bit, not even at all.

(Idea totally stolen from my favorite 90s movie, bonus points if you love that movie too!)

Since Rob and I started dating 7 years and 1 day ago, we fall asleep every night on the phone together (thank GOD for unlimited night minutes). And we're that annoying couple that sits next to each other in restaurants (so sue me, we like holding hands). And yes, I ALWAYS give Rob's a heads up when I fart. He's my lost and found because he always picks up my phone when I leave it everywhere. Basically, without Rob I'd be insane and without a cell phone all the time. But most of all, without Rob, I wouldn't be lucky enough to have found my soul mate, true love and best friend all in the same man. Thank you for 7 wonderful years boo, here's to 10 million more!

And I have to put it on record that in 2,556 days together, we have never ONCE broken up (knock on wood). 84 wonderful continuous months together, I'm the luckiest girl in the world, I swear.
