I baked these bad boys for the Superbowl (Good gawd, I am THAT behind) because my sister has been begging me for s'mores. Since fires aren't really my specialty, I found these on Pinterest and knew these were it!
My sister was pretty fond of them, she has quite a sweet tooth. I have to admit that we made the graham cracker top layer a little thick for my liking. I would recommend keeping those graham cracker layers thin, they expanded with baking and are the driest part of the bar. But overall, they were tasty and definitely had s'more tendencies!
Reading my dear friend Lyss' blog, she mentioned a Creative Cleanse that Kate proposed. This idea couldn't have been better timed for what's going on in my life. I can't keep up with the blog reading that I used to and still produce posts 3 times a week. I want to spend more quality time on producing content. And to be honest, my daily reads are people who comment on my blog regularly (most of them being my blog friends). Today I've got a simple dessert to add to your Superbowl spread this Sunday!
While my heart is still broken from the Broncos loss to the Ravens (I know, I know, it was like 10 years ago already), I'll still be rocking my Manning jersey this Sunday and snackin' on some of these.
I made these cake pops for my baby brother's birthday (hence the baking sheet as serving dish, 13 year olds aren't big on fancy displays) but I realized they'd be perfect to share for Superbowl Sunday. Literally all you do is make some cake pops, and glue this printable flag on top of them. Better yet, I've decided to share the printable too! (click below)

Since I spent most of last night in a pile of kraft wrapping paper and ribbon, furiously working on Christmas presents, I figured I would finally share a recipe I've been bringing to all my potlucks lately. Who loves Nutella like I do?!?
I cannot sing enough praises about this recipe. First of all, the cookie dough is to die for. Then, you throw in the Nutella and it's unstoppable. I do want to note that because the cookies hang out in the mini muffin tin for awhile, I've found that the cookies need to come out of the oven sooner than a typical cookie. When you take them out, make sure they're closer to the soft side, because they'll continue baking in the tin while you make the cups and put the Nutella in.
I've gotten really good feedback on these bad boys and some of that feedback has come from my own mouth. Lol. So give it a try!

I figured now is as best a time as ever to share this with my readers too! Happy Blog Birthday (+1 day) to Make it & Fake it!

Recipes adapted from Makoodle. I changed some of the proportions and excluded a few ingredients to fit my needs.
Sugar Cookie Recipe:
1 Cup sugar
1 Cup butter, softened
1.5 eggs (literally broke open an egg and only threw in "half" of an egg. Lol)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 Cup sour cream
3 Cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
a pinch of salt
In a stand mixer, cream the sugar and butter. Add eggs, vanilla and sour cream until well combined. Slowly add in the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt until well combined.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and keep refrigerated for at least 2 hours.
Once dough is chilled, roll it out and cut with cookie cutter. Set oven at 350 degrees and bake for roughly 11 minutes (less if you roll your dough out thin). Let the cookies cool before decorating.
Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar, add more for consistency
Cream softened butter and cream cheese together then add vanilla.
Slowly add powdered sugar to desired consistency. You might need more powdered sugar if you want firmer icing.
It's not often I eat a ton of my own baking creations but boy did I eat tons of these. I would have to say they come out with more of a"soft" shortbread taste rather than traditional sugar cookie but they were delicious. I used the Brown Eyed Baker's tutorial to attempt to ice my cookies and clearly I'm a first timer... Also, I don't recommend using cream cheese frosting to frost cookies using the flooding method. But overall, definitely give this cookie recipe a try!
I am having an epic week of running around with my head chopped off, hot gluing my fingers together and basically, party planning. This weekend, I'm helping coordinate a Thank You party for my work with approximately 800 RSVP'd guests with 3 simultaneous (rain) storm systems headed our way. Did I mention a flood warning? And I'm in charge of the carnival, the bulk of the activities... I'm SO excited because it's going to be so much fun but I'm a liiiiiitle stressed too.
